Jacksonville and Orlando Lead Florida Back Into the Foreclosure Top 5

In August 2022, there were over a hundred foreclosure starts in various states. Among the states with the highest foreclosure starts were Florida and Jacksonville.

In August, one in every 4,072 housing units in the country had a foreclosure filing. Florida was among the top five states in the country.

In August, Illinois had the highest foreclosure rate with one in every 1,926 housing units. Other states with high foreclosure rates were Delaware and South Carolina. New Jersey was next with one in every 2,441 homes, while Florida was next with one in every 2,950. Ohio, Chicago, and Florida were the top five metropolitan areas with the highest foreclosure rates. In Florida, one in every 2,074, 2,093, and 1,445 housing units was recorded.

The number of foreclosure completions, which are when the banks take possession of the property, increased by 28% in August. Orlando and Jacksonville had the highest foreclosure rates in the country.
