Over 130 do deaths linked to MIdwestern Pet Foods

Posted by Sami Thalji | Aug 24, 2021

Midwestern Pet Foods, Inc., has been linked to more than 130 dog deaths and over 220 dog illnesses due to "significant violations" of food safety conditions at four of their food plants. The FDA found high levels of aflatoxin, which causes illness and death in pets.  Midwestern Food products include Sportmix, CanineX, Earthborn Holistic, Venture, Unrefined, Sportmix Wholesomes, Pro Pac, Pro Pac Ultimates, Sportstrail, Sportmix and Meridian. Stop buying this food now and throw out whatever you have left. Companies like this shouldn't be able to operate and should face significant penalties for their reckless conduct. Midwestern Food did over $500 million in revenues in 2020 while putting out an allegedly poisonous and toxic product. Unfortunately, in Florida your dog is treated as property so if they kill your dog your damages are limited to the value of the dog. That isn't right and is probably one of the reasons why Midwestern seems to have little to no incentive to clean their plants.
